Our Mission

Suzie’s Pride Inc. is a Sanctuary and Rescue for big cats. We are a no-kill, no-breed facility for unwanted, abused and neglected big cats from private owners, commercial entities, zoos and other sanctuaries. We provide cats with a place to live out their days in a compassionate respectful environment; we give them proper care enabling them to have a good quality of life.

This year has been so full for us.  It’s hard to believe it’s already May!  Last month Matt and I, along with a few friends from work went to visit some big cats.  Up in Rockwell, NC there is a big cat sanctuary for lions and tigers, providing a haven for these majestic creatures.  I love all critters, and have two fur babies of our own that are my pride and joy!  Meet my not so big cats, Maeby and Leo.

(Although, Leo certainly believes he’s a huge intimidating black panther from time to time…)

So when a coworker asked if we’d like to go see some really big cats, of course I said, “Hell yes!.”  We got to watch the big cats sleep and play and interact with each other and I found it endlessly entertaining how cats, regardless of size, really do act the same.  Cats love boxes.  The look in the tiger’s eyes when tearing up a box is one I’ve seen before many times in Maeby’s eyes.  Big cats love big cat naps, too.

I’m so happy that there are places like Suzie’s Pride to take such good care of these beautiful animals.  They can run and play and snooze in the sun, well taken care of.  Have a look for yourself at some of my favorite photos from the day.  The internet can always use more cat photos 🙂  These were taken by both myself and Matt.  Link to the full gallery here —>
